Accusation of Rosa Luxemburg

Rosa Luxemburg, one of the best-known supporters of the Marxist wing of the Socialdemocratic Party of Germany (SPD), is accused of „Calling the Public for Disobience against Laws and Orders of the Authorities“. She is sentenced to one year imprisonement. Luxemburg will be kept most of the time of the First World War in „protective custody“. On 9 November 1918, at the end of the war, she will be released from the prison in Breslau and return to Berlin in order to become editor of the „Rote Fahne“ (Red Banner), the organ of the Spartacists which were founded in 1916. She will aid in the transformation of this organization into the German Communist Party (KPD). Shortly after that, in January 1919, Luxemburg will be murdered by nationalist soldiers.
