Briand-Kellogg Pact

On 27 August 1928 in Paris 15 nations sign the „Briand-Kellogg Pact“. This treaty, which was formulated by the foreign ministers of the United States and France, Frank Billings Kellogg and Aristide Briand, outlaws all future wars of aggression. By 1929 sixty-three countries will have joined the pact.

Allocation of funds to build armoured cruiser

On 10 August 1928 the Reich cabinet decides to allocate funds to finance building the controversial armoured cruiser A. Although the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) had conducted its 1928 election campaign with slogans against building the cruiser, even the SPD cabinet ministers vote in favour of the decision. This leads to intense criticism within the party.
