... and the original partitioning established by the Allies

The south-western region of the Federal Republic of Germany undertakes on 25 April 1952 a restructuring of the states which the occupying powers established after the Second World War. Wurttemberg-Baden, Wurttemberg-Hohenzollern and Baden merge to become the federal state of Baden-Wurttemberg. The consolidation has been the aim of both Wurttemberg states. By contrast, Baden has resisted and lodged a constitutional complaint. The Federal Constitutional Court soon choose to have a plebiscite conducted which decided on 9 December 1951 in favour of creating the large federal state.
