Czech and Slovak exile groups meet on 30 June 1918 in the American city of Pittsburgh. They agree to undertake mutual efforts toward the establishment of a Czechoslovakian state on the territory of the Danube monarchy, now close to military collapse. In the same year – on 28 October 1918 – the founding of Czechoslovakia is proclaimed.
