Founding of the Broadcaster of Free Berlin

On 12 November 1953 the „Law to Establish the Broadcasting Corporation of Free Berlin“ (SFB) goes into effect in the Federal Republic of Germany. In the four-powers’ city there shall be in future an independent broadcaster whose name will underscore its intention to help preserve the freedom of West Berlin. The SFB will begin its work on 1 July 1954.
