In a speech in Munich on 14 July 1923, Adolf Hitler, chairman of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP), calls for the repeal of the „shameful treaty of Versailles“ and for the restoration of „German honour and freedom“. A subsequent demonstration by the Nazis is dispersed by Munich’s police force.
