On 7 May 1925 in the Berlin Reichstag, the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) raises its objection to the election of former General Field Marshall Paul von Hindenburg as Reich President. A „massive manipulation of voters“ supposedly took place. For example, workers were allegedly threatened by their estate owners with „significant personal penalties“ should they withhold their votes from von Hindenburg. The SPD’s objection is dismissed.
