SS founded

On 9 November 1925, Adolf Hitler orders the founding of the Schutzstaffel as his personal bodyguard. It consists of 280 men and is initially placed under the authority of the Sturmabteilung (SA). On 6 January 1929, Hitler will call on one of his closest confidants, Heinrich Himmler, to become „Reichsführer SS“. By the early thirties, over 200,000 men will belong to the SS.
